Product Description
Mechanism of action
Cefetamet is an oral third-generation cephalosporin that binds PBPs and disrupts peptidoglycan crosslinking in susceptible bacteria. It has strong activity against respiratory and urinary pathogens. Often used as cefetamet pivoxil, a prodrug that improves oral bioavailability.
Benefits and advantages
Applied in respiratory-infection and UTI models, oral cephalosporin pharmacokinetics research, β-lactam SAR studies, and community-pathogen susceptibility monitoring. Useful for exploring pivoxil prodrug ester hydrolysis and systemic exposure.
Side effects and risks
Risks include hypersensitivity, GI upset, dysbiosis, and rarely hepatic enzyme elevation. Handle with routine antimicrobial PPE.
