Product Description

Mechanism of action

Cefdinir is a third-generation oral cephalosporin that inhibits PBPs, disrupting bacterial cell-wall synthesis in both gram-positive and gram-negative pathogens. It possesses enhanced activity against respiratory pathogens and improved -lactamase stability relative to earlier oral cephalosporins.

Benefits and advantages

Used in respiratory-tract infection models, community-acquired pathogen research, -lactam susceptibility assays, MIC distribution studies and oral cephalosporin PK/PD evaluations. It is valuable for investigating resistance patterns in pneumococci and H. influenzae.

Side effects and risks

Risks include hypersensitivity, diarrhoea (including risk of C. difficile overgrowth), red discoloration of stools with iron, and rare hepatic or haematologic effects. Standard antimicrobial precautions apply.

Only GMP materials will be supplied, logistics all according to GDP.
