Product Description

Mechanism of Action

Cefapirine (cephapirin) acid is the active precursor of cephapirin, a first-generation cephalosporin. It binds PBPs, inhibiting peptidoglycan crosslinking and compromising bacterial cell-wall integrity. The acid form is used in synthesis, formulation and analytical-development contexts.

Benefits and Advantages

Used in cephalosporin synthetic-pathway research, PBP-binding analysis, veterinary-microbiology studies, β-lactam precursor characterisation, and formulation stability investigations.

Side Effects and Risks

Risks include hypersensitivity, mild hepatotoxicity, GI disturbances and dermal irritation. Handle using antimicrobial compound precautions.
