Mechanism of action
Carbenicillin is a broad‑spectrum β‑lactam antibiotic belonging to the carboxypenicillin class. It inhibits bacterial cell‑wall synthesis by binding to penicillin‑binding proteins (PBPs), preventing crosslinking of peptidoglycan layers. It is particularly active against *Pseudomonas* species and gram‑negative rods.
