Product Description
Mechanism of action
Carbenicillin is a broadspectrum lactam antibiotic belonging to the carboxypenicillin class. It inhibits bacterial cellwall synthesis by binding to penicillinbinding proteins (PBPs), preventing crosslinking of peptidoglycan layers. It is particularly active against *Pseudomonas* species and gramnegative rods.
Benefits and advantages
Used in antibacterialmechanism research, PBPbinding assays, lactam resistance studies, gramnegative metabolism modelling, biofilmformation studies and comparative lactam SAR research.
Side effects and risks
Risks include hypersensitivity reactions, bleeding tendencies (platelet dysfunction), electrolyte disturbances due to sodium load, and nephrotoxicity. Handle with antimicrobial compound safety precautions.
Only GMP materials will be supplied, logistics all according to GDP.
