Product Description
Mechanism of action
A water-soluble glucocorticoid ester rapidly converted to active betamethasone. Its high solubility allows rapid onset of anti‑inflammatory activity. Mechanistically, the compound suppresses cytokine signalling, reduces immune‑cell activation and inhibits phospholipase A₂–mediated eicosanoid synthesis.

Used in injectable-formulation research, acute-inflammation models, receptor-pharmacodynamics studies and emergency glucocorticoid-response modelling. Provides a benchmark for rapid‑acting corticosteroid preparations.
Side effects and risks
Adverse effects include electrolyte imbalance, adrenal suppression, immune suppression, hyperglycaemia and GI irritation. Ensure appropriate steroid-handling precautions.
