Mechanism of action
Bestatin (ubenimex) is a potent inhibitor of aminopeptidase B and leucine aminopeptidase, preventing the removal of N-terminal amino acids from peptide substrates. This modulation affects immune signalling, cytokine processing and tumour-cell proliferation. Bestatin indirectly influences pathways involving antigen presentation and lymphocyte activation.

Used widely in immunology research, tumour-biology modelling, enzyme-kinetics studies, peptide-processing investigations and analysis of metalloenzyme regulation. Its specificity makes it a standard reference compound for aminopeptidase inhibition.
