Product Description

Mechanism of action

Amrinone (inamrinone) inhibits PDE3, leading to increased intracellular cAMP in cardiac myocytes and vascular smooth muscle. Elevated cAMP enhances Ca²⁺ influx and contractility while simultaneously causing vasodilation.

Benefits and advantages

Important compound in acute heart failure research, myocardial contractility assays and PDE signalling studies. Provides insight into inotrope–vasodilator relationships.

Side effects and risks

Thrombocytopenia, arrhythmias, hypotension and hepatotoxicity. Handling requires cardiac‑active compound controls.
