Mechanism of action
Amoxapine is a tetracyclic antidepressant with dual action: inhibition of norepinephrine reuptake and partial antagonism at dopamine D₂ receptors. The dopamine antagonism confers mild antipsychotic activity. It also displays antagonistic effects at 5‑HT₂, α₁-adrenergic and histamine receptors.
